Track B, Class 1: Writing That Inspires

Watch for dates for Track B: Craft classes to be announced in spring of 2012!

We all know there’s a difference between a story that’s just cute or funny, and one that touches readers deeply, leaves them thinking and inspires them to take action. In this four-week workshop-style class students will learn how to touch on universal themes and experiences that speak to readers, how to find, define, and fine-tune their own personal “voice”, and explore their own motivations for writing and what they hope to accomplish with their words. Part self-help and discovery and part nuts-and-bolts, this is the perfect class for thoughtful writers who want to help, uplift and inspire others with their words. Great for how-to writers, inspirational bloggers, and personal essayists.

Each student will have up to 2 pieces critiqued by Meagan and will have the opportunity to workshop and brainstorm with other students. Class is limited to 9 students.

Cost: $250. Register by 1 PM EST, Monday October 17, and the class is just $225 (a 10% discount.)

Class starts on Tuesday, November 1 and will continue for four weeks. “Chat” sessions will be ongoing using Facebook groups.

To register, please contact me and put “Writing Classes” in the subject line. I prefer payment via Paypal.

  • Why work with Meagan?

There are a lot of writing classes out there. So why choose mine?

    Experience.
I've been writing professionally since 2003 and it's been my full-time job for over six years. I've been published in dozens of national magazines like Parenting, Parents, Brain, Child, and Good Housekeeping, as well as a variety of online publications like Salon.com, Babble.com and the New York Times parenting blog. I'm also the author of four books, most recently The Happiest Mom: 10 Secrets To Enjoying Motherhood, published in partnership with Parenting magazine.

My five kids have grown up alongside my writing career, so I really understand the unique challenges of balancing writing with parenting and how to launch a freelance business while caring for a family.

    Innovation.
The publishing industry has changed a lot in a short time. As a pro blogger and social media enthusiast who still embraces traditional publishing, I know that writers have to keep evolving to thrive...but I firmly believe that good writing still trumps all. My classes will help you strike that balance for yourself so you can stay current and relevant without burning out.

    Inspiration.
As a writer, mentor, speaker and mother I've created a lifestyle and a career out of helping people. I work hard to understand my students' unique needs, motives and goals to help them shape a writing life that works. Visit my testimonials page to get a better idea of how I've helped other writers succeed.
