Coaching and Self-Paced Courses
Maybe you’ve signed up for one of my writing classes but want a little extra personal attention. Perhaps you aren’t sure you’re ready for a class, and need an hour or two to talk over your specific goals, strengths, and challenges as you come up with a workable strategy for your writing career. Or you’re working with a tight budget and aren’t able to commit to a full class right now.
If any of the above describe you, a self-paced course, possibly along with a mentoring/coaching package, might be just what you’re looking for. Check out these options:
Self-paced course, lessons only: With this option, you’ll receive four detailed, nuts-and-bolts lessons that you can work through at your own speed. The information contained in these lessons is extremely detailed, gleaned from years of freelance success, and will walk you through the process of researching publications, finding names and contact information of editors, pitching, following up, behaving professionally, networking, professional blogging and taking a book idea from conception to publication. This option does not include in-person or email support or mentoring. Fee: $65, start any time.
Self-paced course plus critiques and email support: With this option, you’ll receive the four detailed lessons described above, with reasonable* email support as you work your way through the course. You will have the opportunity to have two queries, essays or short articles critiqued by Meagan. You will have 6 months to complete the course, on your own schedule. Fee: $150, start date mutually agreed upon.
Class materials plus one-on-one coaching. With this option you will receive the four lessons and email support described above ($150 value) plus two hours of one-on-one mentoring with Meagan, divided into four half-hour sessions via chat, phone, or Skype. Get the nuts-and-bolts information offered in the class materials with the opportunity to explore your unique interests, talents, and goals with Meagan! Also includes critiques of up to two queries, essays and/or short articles. Fee: $325, start date mutually agreed upon.
Intensive mentoring package. For those writers ready to hit the ground running, this option offers the class materials plus reasonable email support ($150 value), and a personalized, one-on-one six-week class experience including critique of up to three queries, essays, and/or short articles, plus one half-hour chat with Meagan, weekly, for six weeks. You will also have access to a small community of serious writers who have worked with Meagan, to learn from one another and share goals in a supportive setting. Fee: $445, start date mutually agreed upon.
Stand-alone coaching: $85/hr. If you have registered for any class or package, you can add coaching for $65/hr.
*While there is no hard-and-fast rule on what constitutes “reasonable” email support, in general I find that 2-3 exchanges per lesson are sufficient to answer questions, feedback, and support as you work through class material. I ask that you allow me adequate time to get back to you, keeping in mind that I am working around family commitments and deadlines. I will do my best to accommodate urgent issues as they come up and pride myself on giving detailed, helpful responses to questions.
